Fact-Checking Policy
Last updated: June 1, 2026
Accuracy is the foundation of TrailNestCo's credibility. Every published article passes through a dedicated fact-checking step before it goes live, separate from the original drafting.
What we verify
- Specifications — Dimensions, weight, materials, capacity, and technical claims are checked against the manufacturer's official documentation.
- Pricing & availability — Listed prices are checked against the linked retailer at time of publication and re-checked on each update cycle.
- Comparative claims — Any statement comparing one product to another ("lighter than," "more durable than") is checked against a documented source — our own testing notes, manufacturer data, or a cited third-party test.
- Quotes & data — Any statistic or quote attributed to a study, brand representative, or outside source is linked to its original source where publicly available.
Who checks it
A senior editor — distinct from the article's original writer — performs the fact-check. For camping and outdoor content this is typically James Carter; for home, travel, and EDC content it is typically Sarah Nguyen.
Update cadence
Buying guides and reviews are scheduled for re-verification at minimum once a year, and immediately when we're notified a product has been discontinued, recalled, or materially changed. The visible "Updated" date on each article reflects the most recent fact-check pass, not just a cosmetic edit.
Reporting an error
Readers can flag a suspected inaccuracy at any time by emailingcontact@trailnestco.com with the article URL and the specific claim in question. We aim to investigate and respond within 5 business days.
